Gd(NO3)3 + NaOH → Gd(OH)3 + NaNO3 If this compound is heated to 307 °C, it decomposes to gadolinium(III) oxide-hydroxide(GdOOH), which in turn decomposes to gadolinium(III) oxide if continually heated.
