Its classification is uncertain, but may be closely related to Neuropterida or Polyneoptera (Orthopteroidea). While many details of their anatomy remain unclear, the wing venation of Permoberothidae resembles that of Neuropterida, whereas the wing venation of most other taxa is closer to that of orthopteroids (and thus Permoberothidae may not be closely related to the rest).
