Hidden Stream Temple Cave

Hidden Stream Temple Cave is a engineering topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand Hidden Stream Temple Cave rather than just read about it. In short: The Hidden Stream Temple Cave (Chinese: 潜溪寺洞; pinyin: qián xī sì dòng also zhai fu tang) is cave number 20 at the Longmen Grottoes near Luoyang, Henan, China. The Longmen Grottoes are designated as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Key takeaways

  • Hidden Stream Temple Cave belongs to engineering; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect Hidden Stream Temple Cave to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of Hidden Stream Temple Cave from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

The Hidden Stream Temple Cave (Chinese: 潜溪寺洞; pinyin: qián xī sì dòng also zhai fu tang) is cave number 20 at the Longmen Grottoes near Luoyang, Henan, China. The Longmen Grottoes are designated as a UNESCO world heritage site.

History The cave was first carved during the reign of Tang Emperor Gaozong in late 600 CE. The cave had wooden structured eaves added in the Qing dynasty, but these were not maintained. In 1990 an outer room imitating the Tang style was rebuilt and the floor was paved with bricks.

Features The central statue is a large Amitabha seated on a square pedestal with loose clothes, a naked chest and a plump face. His hands take the abhaya mudra, symbolising fearlessness. The bodhisattvas Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta stand to each side; together the group of three represent the three saints from the west worshipped by the Pure Land Sect of Buddhism. Two armoured heavenly kings protect the entrance. There are also two line engraved buddhas in a niche on the southern wall outside the cave.

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with Hidden Stream Temple Cave

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what Hidden Stream Temple Cave claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In engineering, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to Hidden Stream Temple Cave before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about Hidden Stream Temple Cave ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of Hidden Stream Temple Cave

In research
Hidden Stream Temple Cave appears in engineering research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses Hidden Stream Temple Cave in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
Hidden Stream Temple Cave is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics Archaeological sites in Henan, Buddhist grottoes in China, Buddhist grottoes in Henan, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for Hidden Stream Temple Cave outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
