Indian National Academy of Engineering

Indian National Academy of Engineering is a engineering topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand Indian National Academy of Engineering rather than just read about it. In short: The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) was founded in 1987. It consists of India's engineers, engineer-scientists and technologists covering the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines.

Key takeaways

  • Indian National Academy of Engineering belongs to engineering; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect Indian National Academy of Engineering to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of Indian National Academy of Engineering from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) was founded in 1987. It consists of India's engineers, engineer-scientists and technologists covering the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines. The academy is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and is an autonomous institution supported partly through grant-in-aid by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. As the only engineering Academy of the country, INAE represents India at the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS). INAE functions as an apex body and promotes the practice of engineering and technology and the related sciences for their application to solving problems of national importance. The academy also provides a forum for futuristic planning for the country's development, requiring engineering and technological inputs and brings together specialists from such fields as may be necessary for comprehensive solutions to the needs of the country.

History The Indian National Academy of Engineering was registered on 20 April 1987 on the recommendation of the Ministry of Civil Supplies. Jai Krishna was appointed its first President. The academy was formally inaugurated by the Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on 11 April 1988 at a Foundation Function in New Delhi.

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with Indian National Academy of Engineering

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what Indian National Academy of Engineering claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In engineering, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to Indian National Academy of Engineering before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about Indian National Academy of Engineering ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of Indian National Academy of Engineering

In research
Indian National Academy of Engineering appears in engineering research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses Indian National Academy of Engineering in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
Indian National Academy of Engineering is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics Indian engineering organisations, National academies of engineering, Organisations based in Delhi, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for Indian National Academy of Engineering outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
