Prior to his time at Liberty, he was a Giles Distinguished Professor at Mississippi State University, where he held a chair position at the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS). He is currently a Senior Fellow for the Center for Apologetics at Liberty University. Horstemeyer is known for his work in Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), and for coining the term "Creationeering", a framework integrating engineering principles with business entrepreneurship.
