Career He gained a PhD in the History of Architecture from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1986. He was Director of History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture and Art, Department of Architecture, MIT, (1996-2007). Associate Dean, School of Architecture and Planning, MIT (2007 – 2014), and Interim Dean, School of Architecture and Planning, MIT (2014 - 2015). From 1987 to 1994, he taught at Cornell University.
