Mauro Pezzè

Mauro Pezzè is a astronomy topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand Mauro Pezzè rather than just read about it. In short: Mauro Pezzè is an Italian computer scientist. He is a professor of the faculty of informatics at the Università della Svizzera italiana, Switzerland where he had been the dean of the faculty of informatics from 2009 to 2011.

Key takeaways

  • Mauro Pezzè belongs to astronomy; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect Mauro Pezzè to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of Mauro Pezzè from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

Mauro Pezzè is an Italian computer scientist. He is a professor of the faculty of informatics at the Università della Svizzera italiana, Switzerland where he had been the dean of the faculty of informatics from 2009 to 2011. He is also a professor of software engineering at the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca and, from 2019 to 2026, at the Constructor Institute in Schaffhausen. He has been co-chair of the International Conference on Software Engineering. Pezzè is the co-author of Software testing and analysis: process, principles, and techniques published by Wiley in 2007. His research interests are mainly software redundancy, self-healing and self-adaptive software systems. He was recognized as an ACM Distinguished Member in 2017. He was editor in chief of the journal ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology from 2018 to 2024. He is editor in chief of the journal IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering since January 1, 2026.

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with Mauro Pezzè

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what Mauro Pezzè claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In astronomy, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to Mauro Pezzè before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about Mauro Pezzè ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of Mauro Pezzè

In research
Mauro Pezzè appears in astronomy research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses Mauro Pezzè in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
Mauro Pezzè is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics Academic staff of the University of Milano-Bicocca, Academic staff of the Università della Svizzera italiana, Information scientists, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for Mauro Pezzè outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
