Mim Lake

Mim Lake is a science topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand Mim Lake rather than just read about it. In short: Mim lake, originally known as the Anwomasu Lake, is an Inland lake located on the outskirts of Mim in the Asunafo North Municipal District in the Ahafo Region of Ghana. The lake is a latent tourist site and has the potential of a lake side Resort.

Key takeaways

  • Mim Lake belongs to science; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect Mim Lake to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of Mim Lake from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

Mim lake, originally known as the Anwomasu Lake, is an Inland lake located on the outskirts of Mim in the Asunafo North Municipal District in the Ahafo Region of Ghana. The lake is a latent tourist site and has the potential of a lake side Resort. Revellers often visit it for leisure.

Geography Mim lake at 6.91873°N 2.55269°W / 6.91873; -2.55269 lies off the Mim - kenyasi road, about 1 km (0.62 mi) northwards of the Mim township. The main communities around this lake are the Mim old-airport quarters, Asukese, and Nkensere.

History & People

This lake is an expansion of the old Anwomasu river which was a natural lake. The expansion turned the natural lake into artificial lake initially serving both industrial and domestic purposes. After decades of use, the Lake with its diverse natural scenes is preserved as tourist attraction. The Lake has different species of flora and fauna. Among the fish species in the lake are the endemic cichlid hemichromis frempongi, and the near-endemic cichlids tilapia busumana and T. discolor. This Lake is connected by a conduit pipe that leads to a Dam at 6.9105600°N 2.5605000°W / 6.9105600; -2.5605000, few meters away from the Ayum Forest Products Ltd. This Dam serves both industrial and domestic purposes.

Incidents There have been a couple of separate incidents when two people, aged 57 and 31 years, on different occasions drowned in the lake.

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with Mim Lake

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what Mim Lake claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In science, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to Mim Lake before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about Mim Lake ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of Mim Lake

In research
Mim Lake appears in science research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses Mim Lake in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
Mim Lake is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics Ahafo Region, Ghana geography stubs, Lake stubs, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for Mim Lake outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
