Uses Native Hawaiians used the soft, greenish wood of ʻaiea to make pale (gunwales) for waʻa (outrigger canoes) and ʻaho (thatching sticks).The reddish yellow berries were sometimes eaten, while the bark and leaves were used for (unspecified) medicinal purposes.
