Genomics Plastid genomes of Proteorhodophytina are large, highly diversified, and intron-rich which contrasts with the generally compact and slow-evolving plastid genomes of other rhodophytes. Mitochondrial genomes of Proteorhodophytina are also larger than in other groups of red algae.
