Public Seal of Samoa

Public Seal of Samoa is a astronomy topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand Public Seal of Samoa rather than just read about it. In short: The Public Seal of Samoa is the state seal of Samoa. It takes inspiration from the emblem of the United Nations, as New Zealand administered Western Samoa first as a League of Nations mandate and then as a United Nations trust territory until the country received its independence on 1 January 1962, as Western Samoa.

Key takeaways

  • Public Seal of Samoa belongs to astronomy; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect Public Seal of Samoa to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of Public Seal of Samoa from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

The Public Seal of Samoa is the state seal of Samoa. It takes inspiration from the emblem of the United Nations, as New Zealand administered Western Samoa first as a League of Nations mandate and then as a United Nations trust territory until the country received its independence on 1 January 1962, as Western Samoa. Samoa was the first Polynesian nation to reestablish independence in the 20th century. The background is cross-hatched with a grid like the United Nations emblem, and most of the other elements are duplicated on the national flag.

Description The official crest or badge of Samoa is the public seal excluding the surrounding concentric circles, and the words "The Public Seal of the Independent State of Samoa". The crest is used by government bodies on official paper documents, while the public seal is used by the head of state of Samoa, the O le Ao o le Malo. The public seal is defined by legislation as follows:

A silver shield with the lower two-thirds blue, having thereon 5 silver stars representing the constellation of the Southern Cross, of the same shape and the same relative sizes and dispositions among themselves as in the Flag of Samoa; one half of the upper third depicting a green sea with a green coconut palm issuing therefrom; the shield being surmounted by a gold cross, and superimposed on 2 concentric circles of the world and the olive leaves as in the United Nations Badge, and bearing the subscription of the motto "Fa'avae i Le Atua Samoa", meaning in the English language "God be the Foundation of Samoa", the whole being contained within surrounding concentric circles between which are inscribed the words "The Public Seal of the Independent State of Samoa".

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with Public Seal of Samoa

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what Public Seal of Samoa claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In astronomy, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to Public Seal of Samoa before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about Public Seal of Samoa ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of Public Seal of Samoa

In research
Public Seal of Samoa appears in astronomy research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses Public Seal of Samoa in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
Public Seal of Samoa is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics Coats of arms with crosses, Coats of arms with olive branches, Coats of arms with stars, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for Public Seal of Samoa outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
