Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute

Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute is a biology topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute rather than just read about it. In short: The Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute is a research institute under the Ministry of Agriculture (Taiwan). History The Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute was founded in 1992 as the Endemic Species Research Institute (TESRI).

Key takeaways

  • Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute belongs to biology; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

The Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute is a research institute under the Ministry of Agriculture (Taiwan).

History The Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute was founded in 1992 as the Endemic Species Research Institute (TESRI). In 1999 it was moved under the Executive Yuan's Council of Agriculture. In 2023 it was transformed into the Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute (TBRI) under the Ministry of Agriculture.

Operations The TBRI is collaborating with the Taiwan Wild Bird Federation and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology on a Taiwan Bird Atlas.

Taiwan Moth Information Center The Taiwan Moth Information Center is a database of information on moths and butterflies maintained by the TBRI. As of 2025 it had more than 800,000 entries including 125,000 digitized specimens.

Taiwan Roadkill Observation Network The Taiwan Roadkill Observation Network is a citizen science program run by the Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute.

Research The TBRI has researched coconut crabs on Green Island, Taiwan. In 2023 TBRI researchers identified two new species of spiders in Southern Taiwan, Hioctis parilarilao and Hogna arborea. In 2024 researchers identified a new Angelica species, A. aliensis. A 2025 study published by TBRI researchers identified a strong relationship between bird species diversity and landscape heterogeneity.

Publications The Institute publishes the Chinese language Nature Conservation Quarterly.

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In biology, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute

In research
Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute appears in biology research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics 1992 establishments in Taiwan, Biological research institutes, Executive Yuan, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
