The Inter-war Campaign

The Inter-war Campaign is a physics topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand The Inter-war Campaign rather than just read about it. In short: the Campaign Between the Wars (or CBW or the Inter-war Campaign or IWC, Hebrew: המערכה בין המלחמות or מב"ם lit. "military campaign between wars") is an Israeli military doctrine regarding the targeted covert inter-war campaign waged by the State of Israel. Key takeaways

  • The Inter-war Campaign belongs to physics; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect The Inter-war Campaign to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of The Inter-war Campaign from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

the Campaign Between the Wars (or CBW or the Inter-war Campaign or IWC, Hebrew: המערכה בין המלחמות or מב"ם lit. "military campaign between wars") is an Israeli military doctrine regarding the targeted covert inter-war campaign waged by the State of Israel. This is done through the IDF and the Israeli Intelligence Community, by preventing Israel's enemies, whomsoever they may be, from developing capabilities that will enable them to violate Israel's balance of deterrence through detecting and selectively destroying emerging threats to Israel's security. Among the activities attributed to Israel: the 2007 strike on a suspected nuclear reactor in Syria (Operation Outside the Box), the assassination of Syrian General Muhammad Suleiman (although not publicly attributed to Israel, only that Israel was consulted on the assassination), Imad Mughniyah, the military commander of Hezbollah and his son, and Mahmoud al-Mabhouh. The Israeli attack in Sudan (2009) during Operation Cast Lead, the May 2013 attacks on Iranian arms shipments to Hezbollah in Damascus, the January 2013 attack on the Syrian arms convoy in the Rif region of Damascus, the February 2014 attack on the Syrian arms convoy to Hezbollah in Baalbek, activities against the Iranian nuclear program, and the delivery of about 800 bombs against 200 targets across Syria in 2017–2018.

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with The Inter-war Campaign

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what The Inter-war Campaign claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In physics, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to The Inter-war Campaign before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about The Inter-war Campaign ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of The Inter-war Campaign

In research
The Inter-war Campaign appears in physics research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses The Inter-war Campaign in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
The Inter-war Campaign is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics Israel Defense Forces stubs, Military history, Military of Israel, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for The Inter-war Campaign outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
