Early life and education Veselin Jungić was born in the city of Banja Luka in former Yugoslavia and completed his undergraduate degree in mathematics at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1977. He then pursued a master's degree in mathematics at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb in Croatia. In 1992, Jungić and his family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, to escape the Bosnian War.
