Visco Corporation

Visco Corporation is a computer science topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand Visco Corporation rather than just read about it. In short: Visco Corporation (株式会社ビスコ) is a software company located in Japan. They originally developed video games for several platforms from the arcades and NES, to the Nintendo 64 and Neo Geo in the past.

Key takeaways

  • Visco Corporation belongs to computer science; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect Visco Corporation to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of Visco Corporation from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

Visco Corporation (株式会社ビスコ) is a software company located in Japan. They originally developed video games for several platforms from the arcades and NES, to the Nintendo 64 and Neo Geo in the past. When Visco was one of the companies under the Taito umbrella, some of its titles back then were labeled "Taito".

History Visco was founded in 1982 by Tetsuo Akiyama (秋山 哲雄, Akiyama Tetsuo) and later became corporate on August 8, 1983, while revealing itself as "Visco" in Japan. The company teamed up with Seta and Sammy in developing arcade games powered by the SSV (Sammy, Seta and Visco) arcade system board until Sammy fully acquired noted game company Sega under a new company titled Sega Sammy Holdings in 2004, while Seta's parent company Aruze announced in December 2008 that Seta decided to close their doors after 23 years of existence. Therefore, the SSV board was no longer being produced. From 2008, Visco began manufacturing slot machines for casinos mostly in southeast Asian regions.

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with Visco Corporation

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what Visco Corporation claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In computer science, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to Visco Corporation before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about Visco Corporation ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of Visco Corporation

In research
Visco Corporation appears in computer science research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses Visco Corporation in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
Visco Corporation is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics Computer hardware companies, Japanese companies established in 1982, Japanese video game company stubs, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for Visco Corporation outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
