Zidesamtinib

Zidesamtinib is a chemistry topic covered in the lgStudy science library. This page brings together a partial reference excerpt, illustrations, worked examples, real-world applications and a short study plan, so you can understand Zidesamtinib rather than just read about it. In short: Zidesamtinib, sold under the brand name Jideytro, is an anti-cancer medication used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Zidesamtinib is a kinase inhibitor.

Key takeaways

  • Zidesamtinib belongs to chemistry; place it in that map before memorising details.
  • Learn the definition first, then one example that makes the definition concrete.
  • Connect Zidesamtinib to a quantity you can measure, compute or draw — that is where exam questions come from.
  • Reproduce the core statement of Zidesamtinib from memory before moving on to harder problems.

Reference excerpt

Zidesamtinib, sold under the brand name Jideytro, is an anti-cancer medication used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Zidesamtinib is a kinase inhibitor. It is taken by mouth. Zidesamtinib was approved for medical use in the United States in July 2026.

Medical uses Zidesamtinib is indicated for the treatment of adults with locally advanced or metastatic ROS1-positive non-small cell lung cancer who have received a prior ROS1 kinase inhibitor.

Adverse effects The US prescription label includes warnings and precautions for central nervous system adverse reactions, QTc interval prolongation, interstitial lung disease/pneumonitis, skeletal fractures, myalgia with creatine phosphokinase elevation, pancreatic toxicity, and embryo-fetal toxicity.

Mechanism of action Zidesamtinib is a kinase inhibitor that works by blocking ROS1, an abnormal protein that drives some lung cancers to grow, including forms that have become resistant to earlier ROS1 treatments. Zidesamtinib also works on the related protein ALK. In laboratory and animal studies, zidesamtinib stopped cancer cells with ROS1 changes from growing and slowed tumor growth, including tumors in the brain.

History Efficacy was evaluated in ARROS-1 (NCT05118789), a multi-center, single-arm, open-label, multi-cohort trial in participants with previously treated locally advanced or metastatic ROS1-positive NSCLC. The efficacy population included 117 participants; 59 who received one prior ROS1 tyrosine kinase inhibitor and 58 who received two or more prior ROS1 tyrosine kinase inhibitors, including lorlatinib, repotrectinib, and/or taletrectinib.

Society and culture

Legal status Zidesamtinib was approved for medical use in the United States in July 2026. The US Food and Drug Administration granted the application for zidesamtinib orphan drug designation.

Names Zidesamtinib is the international nonproprietary name. Zidesamtinib is sold under the brand name Jideytro.

Worked examples

Example 1 — a first encounter with Zidesamtinib

Start with the simplest possible case. Write down what Zidesamtinib claims or describes in one sentence, then invent the smallest concrete situation in which that sentence is true. In chemistry, the smallest case is usually a single object, a single equation or a single measurement. Check that every symbol or term in your sentence has a meaning in that case.

Example 2 — changing one variable

Take the situation from Example 1 and change exactly one quantity: double it, halve it, or set it to zero. Predict what should happen to Zidesamtinib before you calculate. Comparing your prediction with the result is the fastest way to find out whether you understand the idea or only the words.

Example 3 — an exam-style question

Typical questions about Zidesamtinib ask you to (a) state it precisely, (b) apply it to given data, and (c) explain a limitation. Practise writing all three answers in under five minutes; the third part is what separates a full-mark answer from an average one.

Applications of Zidesamtinib

In research
Zidesamtinib appears in chemistry research whenever the underlying quantities have to be modelled precisely. Papers usually cite it as a starting assumption and then explore where it breaks down.
In technology and industry
Engineering practice reuses Zidesamtinib in design rules, simulations and safety margins. Knowing the idea lets you read a specification sheet and understand why the numbers look the way they do.
In the classroom
Zidesamtinib is common in secondary-school and first-year university syllabi. It links to neighbouring topics Aminopyridines, Antineoplastic drugs, Drugs developed by GSK plc, so understanding it makes those chapters shorter.
In everyday life
Look for Zidesamtinib outside the textbook — in sport, cooking, traffic, electronics or the sky above you. An example you found yourself is remembered far longer than one you were given.
